We have started selling a hybrid water heater made by Eternal that is 98% efficient, and I was just wondering what everyone's opinion was on these heaters. Anyone have any experience working with these?

First, does anyone read this forum? This post is 2+ years old???
Don't know anything about Eternal brand but not sure what this product is. Hybrids are not rated with % efficiency. They are rated by "Energy Factor". This is the ratio of heat added to the water divided by power consumed. Most hybrid water heaters are in the 2.0 to 2.6 range. If I had to convert this to efficiency it would be 200 - 260% but that usually confuses people so they use Energy Factor.

I have serviced a few of them, and personally wasn't that impressed. The way they are put together is very cheap, and the manufacturer is not to hip on honoring their warranty. It's my experience the best most efficient tankless on the market now is the Navien line, particularly the npe 240a. Has a built in circ pump, and one heater can be used for various applications. I was hung up on rinnai, till these came along. They are awesome!

After my initial post, I read up on the Eternal Hybrid and discovered they are using the term "hybrid" very loosely. What they are in fact selling is a gas fired tankless condensing water heater. Probably is 98% efficient but if quality is poor I'll pass.
