I'm not a full time plumber but a full time EC with oil heat, cast iron radiators. I want to install a 40 gallon electric WH inline on the return side to my furnace for my heating system. It's a cold start unit.

Will this furnish me with instant heat from the radiators?
Will this save me money on my oil consumption ?

Wish I could help. They are not very common here
Most of the work I've done on hydronic space heating systems is fixing leaks or removing them.

How large is the home your heating and what type of radiation do you have, copper fin or cast iron radiator? My first thought is you will be reducing the flow rate as the tapping's on the heater are 3/4". My second thought is your electric bill is going to eat up any savings your going to get on the oil.
