Dual stage softener installation question?

Hi everyone. Big fan. Long time lurker, first time questioner.

I picked up a dual stage softener/Iron filter system. It installs as per the diagram below (which is totally straightforward… and yes I’m on a well). My only question is, the brine tank only seems to connect to the softener, which suggests to me that the softener is the only component able to regenerate. Is that correct? Doesn’t the Iron filter resin need access to a brine tank to regenerate too?

I figured it out. The iron filter contains carbon and other filter media. It’s set to backwash 2x a week. It pulls put the iron like a pre filter, which is way better than what I had before (cartridge that got totally plugged up with Red iron mud) then the softener just does it’s thing. Works beautifully. No real help from here though.
