About 2 months ago, my husband installed a new moen cartridge on our shower, because of a constant, slow drip. It's worked fine for the past 2 months, and now has started dripping again. What could be causing this so soon? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Tracy

Possible faulty cartridge, or trash in the lines. You might try removing the cartridge as you did before after shutting off the water. With the cartridge removed, close your shower curtain or door. Turn the water back on to the valve with the cartridge removed for 1-2 seconds to flush out an debris that may be inside the valve. Slide your finger inside the valve and make sure there it feels like smooth brass with no burrs or foreign material. Moen generally used two different types of cartridges for their tub/showers. Both can be broken down. You can find the breakdown on their website I believe. Once broken down look for any foreign debris or ripped o- rings. Replace as needed. When you reinstall make sure to use heatproof grease it will help it slide in and out of the valve body with ease. Once installed, If that doesn't work I would replace the cartridge with a new one.

He is right but replacing those cartridge cost almost the same as buying the hole entire shower trim over

Ruddy, are you aware that if you call Moen they will send you a new cartridge free of charge? The same is true of Delta and some other major brands.

John

No I wasn't aware of that. At least we both let people now wats exactly to do because people always go and buy a new cartridge that cost almost the same as the trim
