I acquired a cottage and some land wayyyy upstate NY. Cottage was always used as a summer place but I tend to find more relaxation time in winter so now it needs heat. The utility rates at this location for electric heat and HW are dirt cheap, and there is no municipal gas (or water) to be had, so I'm planning on a 24Kw electric boiler and hydronic baseboards. (I hate electric resistance baseboards that dry the crap outta my sinuses.)
The baseboards would be heated electrically to keep the place above freezing when we're not there, and switch over to a wood boiler when we are occupying the cottage.
I could simply go with a typical 50 gallon electric water heater, but I was wondering if it's possible to heat a domestic hot water supply via the electric boiler through either a desuperheater or indirect setup.
Any thoughts from the pros?
