I used one of the rock covers for mine... but the story is 40 years ago the well was put in, but it was put in next to a natural runoff , as time went on, the ground eroded. A pipe was put in to go under the edge of the driveway.
But once every couple of years we get enough rain it creates a river and backs up enough to flow around the well. So a retaining wall was built to protect it. Needless to say, not fun when we had to pull and replace the pump. Had to take down the wall first... Couple pictures, one is pretty bad but taken through screen porch but you can see how the water can backup and flow around it.
