Closet Flange Fit

I’m replacing this flange. In one pic I have the replacement pushed under the pipe like I think it should fit, another pic has it centered and it doesn’t seem correct to me. Can anyone weigh in? Thanks!

Is that rubber piece in the pipe part of an old wax ring. I don't think that should be in there. Your new metal closet flange
has to go under that plastic rim and then go together. Its hard to tell by your pictures if you have it right or not.
