I was attempting to clear a clogged drain by blowing air in the pipe with a shop vac. Not sure if that's a no no or not. I now have stains in the kitchen ceiling dry wall. It obviously came from the attic. The pipe I was blowing in is in the basement though. I understand there is a plumbing vent in the attic. Other than that, that's all I know. I'm not much of a plumber. Can someone explain what may have happened? Did blowing air in the clogged pipe cause water to leak in the attic???

lol...you have a vent

the stoppage is below the tee for the trap arm.
you blew waste water up the vent pipe

the vent is "supposed' to exit the roof, so you either have a vent that does not penetrate the roof or a leaking flashing on the roof
