sloan flushmate series 503 has discontinued part i need to fix leak, can i just convert this to the "old school" gravity flush? like a fluidmaster assy from home depot? any better brand suggestion?

but my main concerns are will it be compatible or the tank be enough to hold water to do the job. its a gerber tank...

You can’t convert to gravity flush. If you can’t get parts or a replacement pressure tank then you’ll need to replace the toilet.

Call Gerber.

truly appreciate professional opinion. even if it's not the information I wanted to hear. saves me the time of even going that route.

when you say replace the toilet, that would be tank AND bowl? sorry if this such a dumb question, but i'm weighing if I can go with just tank as i've never (or plan to) undo the bowl part

i guess my options now are 1. get the entire replacement assy or alternative model/series and by calling Gerber or 2. replace the toilet ....

Again, Twowaxhax, thanks for the valuable info as I take this to "enjoy" the weekend...

Many of those 503s were part of a recall a good while ago.
You may also call FLUSHMATE's Recall Hotline toll-free to verify whether your Flushmate III unit is included in the recall at (800) 303-5123 between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday and between 8:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. ET Saturday.
