Bath tub drain has corroded away and is now leaking between the tub and the entire drain body. Plans are to buy new drain insert, replace the pull and turn with the touch toe, and while I'm at it I figured I would re-do and seal the handle and trim behind it, as it's not looking good and is probably original.
The drain insert "4-post" cross has broken and there are now barely 2 of the 4 "posts." Was going to buy the husky tub drain removal tool that gets hammered in almost like bolt extractors. Good tool or try something else?
I have a moen shower handle, It's hard to get it to turn off completely, so it leaks (not from the handle but will drip out the tub spout) that is also getting corroded and just worn out. I want to replace the trim behind the handle, as well as the handle. Currently the handle can spin 360 degrees, as in I can turn counter clockwise from the off position to as hot as can be. I would like to make it so I can only turn the handle clockwise, and have it stop where it's very hot, and stop once I have turned it completely off (stop in 6 oclock for off, and 9 oclock for max hot). What trim kit/handle should I buy to accomplish this? Should I replace the cartridge as well? What is the purpose of replacing the cartridge?
Will I need anything to seal other than some standard silicon? First "plumbing" project but quite mechanically handy, throw me some tips before I dive in.
