A leak from the toilet caused the subfloor to rot, and the tiles to crack. I'm removing the floor and reinstalling tile. When i uncovered the flange, the cast iron is chipped off where the flange and pipe join.

What's my plan of action here? Make a cut with a reciprocating saw under the damage, and put a new flange in? Will i need some sort of extension to make up for the height that will be lost from cutting out the old pipe?

Thanks!

Here's a picture... the white you see is the plastic flange.

Here are some more pics.

I guess the leak was coming from the wax ring or maybe because of the cracked flange or something?

Anyway when i saw the damaged cast iron pipe i thought that it might need to be cut out when the new flange is installed. Or would it be ok to put a new flange back in as long as the pvc extended down past where the cast iron is broken off at the top?

Top down, crack in the flange plus rotted subfloor.

Overall picture, i will be replacing some of those joists as the tops are rotted.

Another pic of the broken cast iron.
