The tub is leaking. I'm trying to replace the faucet stem , but I can't figure out how to remove the knob handle off of this one. There is no holes or visible screws, and no manufacturer markings. I've tried to twist the gold part from the silver sleeve with a couple strap wrenches, but it wouldn't budge. Have anybody seen this before? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I've replace faucet stems before, from the knobs with a plastic cap on the top and a visible screw. Those were easy. This one I can't figure out.

I've tried that. There doesn't seem to be any clearance for a tool to pry it. Even tried a box cutter blade and couldn't wedge it in.

Other than telling you that something unscrews, sorry, but I'm not much help. Wait a bit for some of our professionals who might be aware how to disassemble that contraption.

I'm trying to fix a leak but can't get the hot and cold faucet handles off. I've searched everywhere without luck to find a manual. Any suggestions would be really appreciated. Thanks.

Thanx Matt. ^^^ look there^^^

try one of those rubber jar openers. I do believe the thin chrome cap on top unscrews.

If that doesn't work, try unthreading the escutchion that meets up to the tub deck. There are several varieties of trim that come apart in that manner.
