Brand new toilet leaking past flapper valve

Brand new toilet leaks right past the flapper valve. It only takes 2 minutes to completely drain the tank. I felt the edge of the plastic hole the valve presses against, and it is smooth. The surface of the flapper valve is also smooth with no dings or dents. The system came pre-installed into the brand new toilet tank.
Any ideas what else it could be? Zero water on the floor.

Is the flush valve loose ,or cracked ???? If you push on the flapper does it stop leaking???

Cheap stuff. Replace it.

I would start by replacing the flapper. It could be warped or faulty. If that doesn't work, the flush valve is bad and would need replaced, in which case I would recommend returning the toilet for a new one since the current one would be defective.

The flush arm looks like it is dangling down WAY lower than it should. And those plastic flapper connectors are a pain. Like Twowaxhack and GReynolds929 said, replace the flapper. Verify the flush arm is installed correctly and get a chain connector to attach the flapper to the flush arm.

Thank you for your responses. I actually was able to get it to work by soaking the flapper for 5 minutes in near boiling water. This reset the shape of the flapper disk, and now it seals. Apparently the disk got just a slight bump in the profile due to resting in a bent position during packing. The warm soak softened it.
