I am doing a tile shower. I bought a full body shower fixture that has multiple valves for multiple nozzles so there is just a hot and cold pipe thread input. This unit mounts to the wall but is not fully enclosed so I cannot just send the hot and cold through the wall and caulk around the shower fixture. Can I just cut the holes in the tile small enough(say 5/8 or 9/16) for the pipe to fit through and then caulk around the copper pipe to the tile? Or is there a better solution

My main question. how do I seal the hot and cold copper lines if I run them through a tile wall I put up. Normally if the shower fixture I bought would've been fully enclosed I would just connect the lines through a small hole in the wall and then seal the entire fixture. Since the shower fixture is open on top water could easily go behind the fixture and leak through the hole. So I need to seal the lines as they come through the wall. That way it would not matter if water ever got behind the fixture. I just don't know the best way to do it.

This is the open part of the fixture I was talking about.

I originally was going to feed it through this shallow and seal that to the tile but it is slightly too big. I was curious if I could just caulk the lines themselves if I made the holes I. The wall small enough

stuff a rag in that drain, crap is falling in their...if you were my helper, I would Gibb's slap ya !!!!:D

what is the make/model of that unit ?

the bottom section of the shower, is that sheet rock with dura rock above it ?

on the unit, trash the galvanized reducers and buy brass, leaky leak in 10 years

Ha, the drain is not hooked up and it drops down into my mechanical room but that would save me a trip downstairs.

The make and model is:
Decor Star/ 004-ss

Ha, that is not durarock for the base. It is a gray acrylic pan designed for tiling. I did not want to attempt the concrete pan due to risk of leak. I will get those fittings changed.

I live in Idaho

Thank you for your feedback,

Sam

Did the instruction booklet offer any suggestions?

I would stick 2 - 3/4 brass nipples out of the wall

fastened to a board in the wall using
th

stick out past tile 1'' silicon around the nipple
