Hi. I have recently decided to add a bathroom into my home. I'm not completely inept on plumbing but far from an expert. I've finished the shower rough in already. But have a few questions on the toilet drain and and with venting the whole thing. I've done various projects before but this is my first attempt at an entire bathroom from scratch.

First easy question is how far off the wall should I put my toilet drain? I don't have a new toilet so have nothing to use to measure this distance. I don't want to end up with the toilet being 5 inches from the wall or even worse the drain being 1 inch to close to it.

Second question about the venting. Can I use an air admittance valve in the drain line underneath the house in the crawlspace instead of running a vent pipe through the roof? Getting a vent out the roof could be done but will be a major major pain as with the vaulted ceiling in this room there is no attic access at this spot.

Third question is about the draining. Is there any rule or preference when draining a bathroom as to which should be the first in the drain and which should be the last or does it matter? I was planning on the drain starting with the sink then the shower then to the toilet before it ties in with the main drain for the house.

If you can think of anything else I should be considering as well that I may not have thought of by all means let me know.

If you go 13 inches from the back rough wall of the toilet and 15 1/2" from the side you will be good for rough in.

Technically you could use a cheater vent if its only serving one fixture but since your talking about a toilet i doubt it would be legit after you have plumbed it in.

would it work... absolutely
