We are replacing some toilets at our home and have bought a 1.28 gpf Kohler Cimarron at HD . Everything I hear about this unit is good...it's a 10 on the flush strength, kohler makes the best mechanism, etc, etc

We are considering getting one or two more and we are starting with the upstairs. 14 yr old house, on septic system, exsiting 1.6 gpf toilets occasionally clog, one leaked recently, time to go...

Also wifey likes the heavy duty 2 ply quilted paper and I can't get her off it.

Questions:
1) the HD person said "1.28 might be a problem upstairs"... she was a person taking orders in the special order dept, so I am unsure of ther level of real world expertise does a toilet working on the upstairs level have any different flush characteristics than one of the main level? Seems like gravity would be your friend here.

2. We will have to order the next toilet in biscuit and have a choice of 1.6 or 1.28. This toilet will get the most use 95% of the time ...in our house....same price for 1.6 vs 1.28 .....what would you get? Answer seems obvious but how good IS the 1.28 Kohler Cimarron. ?????

No, there should'nt be any different characteristics from upstairs or downstairs flushing and if your not having any problems with the 1.28 that you have now, I don't see any problems in having them all through your house.

Thanks for your comments!

In doing more research (Online reviews etc) the Cimmaron gets rave reviews from most all who had a 1.6 (what I have now) and were AMAZED at how good a job a 1.28 did.

I think I will go with them.
