I just had a new instant water heater installed; the gas line comes in at 1" from the meter, but then goes to a 1/2" T. My water heater requires a 3/4" gas line, so from the 1/2" T they added a 1/2" to 3/4" adapter and then completed the rest in 3/4". So it's only 1/2" for a few inches - will that cause any gas pressure issues? And out of curiosity - same question if this was a water line instead of a gas line?

when you say instant do you mean a tankless heater because for one its not instant it is endless and your gas system needs to be sized properly for a tankless. you have to add up all the max btu ratings of all appliances and make sure they are sized right. this also depends on the gas pipe that is being used. also the gas meter may need to be upsized. your plumber should have done this
