Where is diverter on this kitchen sink?

I need to repair or replace the diverter on this sink, but can't get the %*$@ thing apart. Does anyone know where the diverter is, and what to unscrew to get at it?

try a large allen wrench (hex key) in the top.

Thanks, that worked. But now I can't get the diverter out. I went to the local hardware store and then to the "expert" plumbing supply store that sold me the wrong tool.

My screwdriver isn't wide enough to fit the grooves on both sides. Any at-home ideas on how to get it out?
