I'm all alone.

I'm starting my pit painting tonight, the wife said she would take pics, so lets hope I actually do it!

I just got through painting my fences, wired up my CC camera system to the fireplace mounted TV, and cleaned the pool and filter. Now, I'm headed to the grocery store because there in not a fricken thing to eat in this house. OH, BTW, I finally got my CP stickers today. Now I have to wash my car so I can wear it proudly!

were the front fenders hard to remove?

No just the four bolts on the front and six on the rear and all that little stuff attached to them. Took me about 20 minutes with air tools to get the whole front clip off. Plans are.

5.9 liter 360 Fuel injected V8
46RE Auto trans
Keeping the NP 231 Transfer case but adding the SYE for the larger U-joints
Dodge Drive shafts
Dana 60 axles front and rear.
Paint job
Interior clean up and much much more.

Are you going to try to smog it, or is it just off road?

It should smog fne since I am going with the same year or newer (According to the man) and I am keeping every bit of smog stuff with it. I have been down the no smaog road and it is more of a pain then it's worth.

Darn. . . . :(

Only temperary you will still get it soon enough. I have the 241 that was in the dodge I just need to take my time and rebuild it and get the SYE for it. I ordered the SYE for the 231 today but I don't think it will hold up to the horse power in the long run. Stuff for the Dodge parts are expensive. If you ever build up your jeep go with Ford or Chevy.

Armpit painting?

I thought that might happen.

No my Pop gave me his old pit BBQ. He never used it much so it was covered in rust and in poor condition.

I took the majority of the rust off with CLR and a wire brush over the coarse of a couple of weekends. The fire box was bad. I think someone got it to hot and burnt the previous paint off of it.

I fin9ished sanding it Sunday, still a good amount of rust on it, but decided it was time to paint.

The biggest PIA is the interior. I'm having to degrease it because after a decade in exile the fat and smoke stuck to it smell terrible.

My finger is numb where I held the spray paint for to long. It still looks terrible too. I got most of the base coat down though so I'm happy.

Next week I move onto armpit painting, it's been a passion of mine for sometime and I've always been afraid to make that jump. That image confirms I am not alone and I am ready to make that leap now.

It's funny you mention the sore finger. I was out touching up the iron gates yesterday with spray paint, and after two cans, thought the same thing. I pass by those cheap, plastic spray can adapters every time I go to an auto parts store but never think about buying it until I'm actually using rattle can paints.

It started raining, but I was going to do the same thing. I need another 5 cans of paint though.
