Can some one tell me what this white steel part connected to the controller is ?

Why would a hose adapter have small pipe lines sticking out off it connected to other parts of the adapter ?

from the arrows on the thing i believe it is a 3 way valve
for what, i dunno. take a picture of the front of it
i can see a nomenclature but cant read it
high pressure/low pressure/ bypass?
