We recently moved into a new construction home and I noticed this device under the sink on a pipe going up to the faucet. The pipe its attached to is not for hot or cold water as both those pipes are separate and accounted for. Both ends of this pipe loop back to the faucet so I'm not even sure what the purpose of the pipe is, let alone the device.
