Greetings Gentlemen, I am a professional plumber from Texas.

As most of you are probably already aware, water that is softened by softeners becomes acidic, and unhealthy to drink. For that reason I am curious what your approaches are to water softening while also providing safe drinking water. The approach I use is a reverse osmosis with a remineralization feature, so that the minerals can alkalinize the water.

I've also heard of a softening technique that uses electricity as opposed to a water softener, and I am interested in that if someone is familiar with the concept.

If I were choosing one from that picture, it would be one from the center around 7. Why would you want acidic or really base water to drink ? That seems harmful.
Plus, you get most of your minerals from your food, not the water... there is a big debate over that. But I personally drink my own distilled water for many years with no problems.

Our drinking water is not softened but goes through a charcoal filter.
