New dishwasher has a permanent water inlet hose with female 3/8 compression / o-ring inlet fitting. Old supply valve has a male 5/8 compression. I cannot locate an adapter fitting with the matching configuration, other than to use a faucet hose.

But, the supply valve fitting is a bit different and does not fit any of the 5/8 hoses I can find around here. It fits the existing (ca. 2004) hose, a 60" Fluidmaster 1W60CU-2. For now I have this one connected to the new inlet hose with a male-male 3/8-3/8 adapter and so there is a bunch of extra old hose length coiled under the sink. I could push it through behind the dishwasher, but I need to replace the older hose to guard against its possible failure.

So, question: would a 5/8 female comp to 3/8 mpt / mip work to connect to the 3/8 female compression on the new d/w hose? (Assuming the 5/8 fits the valve fitting at all).

Or, will I have to replace the supply valve?

Thanks,

JH

Nope. Kinda hard to follow your explanation, from what I understand, just change the supply valve to a standard common 3/8" compression valve and all should work.

Funny that there's no reducing adapter to 3/8 compression from 5/8 compression. Both are commonly found on shut-offs yet I can't locate anything suitable. "Just" change out the valve? That involves soldering close to the back wall of the under-sink area; the valve is too close to the wall to cut off and have enough Cu pipe left to attach a new valve. Yes of course i can do this and have done before, but a bit of a PITA I think.
