I have noticed water coming out of the overflow elbow on the media tank of my 20 year old hague watermax. I am pretty good with a lot of plumbing stuff, but new to softeners.
Up until now, I haven’t paid attention to this softener since we bought this house 2 years ago. The brine tank keeps using salt which I add to monthly.
There is no water noted in the brine tank or coming out of its overflow elbow.
I have taken it through a regen cycle and it appears to go through all cycles normally. However, water will steadily flow out of the overflow elbow on the media tank. I have been advised to see if water will flow through the drive end cap assembly, and if this is okay, to assume I have a media tank leak and start shopping for a new unit. Does this sound like sound advice? Thanks!
