I’m trying to turn up the temperature on my hot water heater but it seems to be inside an I closed small closet area near the washer and dryer. Should I just knock down the wall or what?

If you want to cut out most of the wall in a neat rectangle and then put hinges on it you could reuse it as a simple access door so that in the future you will have a way to get to the water heater without the same problem. My maintenance guy did that for our small water heater closets.

Definitely provide the folks a picture.
My heater is also inside a wall ... BUT a panel covers it that is made to be removed by taking out about ten screws.
I also cut out a square access hole to monitor the pressure tank when I want and covered that framed hole with a large mirror.

Mobile homes often have a water heater in a sealed closet with removable panel.
