Hi all,

I hope someone here can shed some light on this situation. I live in a mid-level condo with an upstairs neighbor with some past and present plumbing issues. A few years back, the owners rented the unit to the tenant from H3LL who ran the washing machine practically all day, everyday. Aside from that, the tenant never changed the HVAC filter, so the A/C began leaking into my hallway closet. Soon enough, a water hammer, or something very close to it, developed in one of the bathroom faucets (each unit has two). Fortunately, she was evicted and the owner moved back in. He didn't use the offensive faucet, so I had no complaints until he got married. Apparently, the tricky bathroom is now the wife's. Since she moved in two years ago, the toilet has leaked into my ceiling and, of course, the water hammer is a constant issue, now.

A plumber visited for all three issues. HVAC - not a problem. The toilet leak - solved with a new wax ring. However, that became an issue b/c initially, the plumber "couldn't find a problem," so I had to have a plumber punch a whole in my ceiling before the neighbors would fix it on their end. As for the water hammer... supposedly, the plumber hired to fix it could only hear the noise in the washer; which didn't fit the floor pan. Allegedly, that was fixed, too, but the hammer is still waking me up in the middle of the night. My question: is it possible for three occupants and two plumbers NOT to notice something so obvious to me? Thanks for your input.

Thanks for the suggestion. However, I hoped that someone could advise me whether it's plausible that people who use the faucet daily, much less a plumber, could be unaware of the hammer noise I can hear loudly and clearly?
