Hello, I've got a drainage problem with my washing machine. My fiance and I purchased our house about a year ago and the previous owners were kings of "just make it work" fixes. So over the last year I've had a fun time going through and fixing their "fixes". So this latest issue has been one I haven't had time to deal with until now. the washing machine outlet to the septic is not draining well. it will back flow about a 1/4 to 1/2 gal every wash cycle. I think the issue is low head pressure, the stand pie is not very tall maybe 7" until it goes into a 45 elbow into the bottom of a vapor lock. However I'm also wondering if the could be something going on with the vapor lock. Let me know what you think. I attached a photo

Oh and the diameter of the drainage tube is about 1" and the diameter of the stand pipe is 1 5/8"

That riser pipe that the hose is tied into needs to be longer. Check the code in your area for min. and max lengths. Also i am sure that old barrel trap is packed with lint and stuff, change that out.

...what in the world...

You need a standpipe drain as shown below- At the least a laundry sink.

Thank you for all the help, now the connection point where the drain would go into the waste stack is 1 1/2", should i use a bushing and increase the pvc pipe size to 2" or stick with 1 1/2" pvc piping for everything? and because I would be going right into the waste stack would I need an AAV?

1 1/2'' bummer,

1.5 will work. but...

because of the mo powerfull pumps on the washers now a days and the fact that your seer inlet is so close.

you are running the risk of having suds bubble out the top of your stand pipe

go ahead and hook it up 1.2....and see how it works.

if it bubbles over..you will have to change the tee to 2''

I think I'll just go ahead bring it out to 2in, I really don;t want this thing over flowing, thank you all for the help
