Hello from Europe. I live in a rental apartment, and my Vailliant EcoTecPro water heater makes a rattling/banging noise whenever I have water running in my apartment and close the tap.
I have attached a short video to my post, so you can hear exactly the noise that it is making when water taps are opened and then closed in my apartment.
VIDEO of problem:
It sounds to me like the noise is definitely coming from inside the Valliant unit itself, and not from inside the walls, connecting pipes, etc.
I would be extremely grateful if anyone here could watch the video and listen to the noise, and then give me their "best guess" as to what they think might be causing the problem and how I can attempt to go about fixing it? I have already attempted turning off the unit entirely, have shutoff the water feeding into the unit, etc and nothing works. Even with the unit turned completely off, the noise is still present whenever I turn on and then shutoff the water.
I am hoping it is something that requires just cleaning out an area or tightening some screws...anything beyond that such as ordering a new motor, and I will likely just call my landlord to have the service people come out to look at it.
Any guidance would be appreciated. Thank you very much for your time.
