Unknown gas fitting

I was recently doing a gas repair & came across this fitting. It's a 1/2" 90 with something I have never seen attached/part of. It was part of the run going to a gas fireplace.

It’s a log lighter/fireplace in wall/floor valve. A square key fits it and turns the valve on/off.

Thank you. Wasn't sure. Definitely looked like a valve to me. Makes sense. It came right up through the floor, where you could access it.

Anyone know if they make an escutcheon for these valves. This has always bugged me.

It would screw over the outside. You’d have to peel all that batter they packed on there to see.

I’d just find a chrome escutcheon and modify to fit or find one that fits close and caulk it up cowboy

Yes, maybe a 1" id.
