Under sink help for a novice

Hi. We moved into a new house. Double sinks in the kitchen. There is a little bit of a smell, and one of the sinks makes a bit of a gargling sounder when water drains in the other sink.
Both traps are not clogged. However I noticed that where the pipe from the sink goes into the pipe coming out of the floor, they arent directly lined up. So there is some space in the connection. See the arrow in my picture. One side I put some silicone to seal it. Is this the right thing to do?

Attached. I think under the floor tiles the pipe splits with one side going to one sink and the other to the other, if that helps.

You have S-TRAP(S) which may allow the trap water (seal) to be drawn out when draining allowing sewer gases into the house-

but hey, Ajleibow, we have our own resident plumber from Italy

hang in there, do not get discouraged, I will contact him, depending on the difference in time, i do not know when he will respond

Ahh! I didn't realize that. Sorry about that.

I wonder if that piece sticking up diagonally is to attach a "glu glu stop" aka AAV.
