Hello, Im new here and could use some help/advice. I have been searching but am unable to find an answer, if this has already been answered please direct me to it.

We have been having an issue where our shower/tub drain backs up for seemingly no reason. Our toilet, shower, and laundry drain into a large main pipe that connects to city sewers. Our sink and toilet drain fine, and when using them we can see the water rushing through the main line that we have dug up and uncovered. However, our shower and laundry lines drain very slowly and back up during any use, the water just trickles down the main pipe.

We have tried using various 'draino' type solutions to unclog and remove any organic material that might cause this, and we have also snaked the shower several times without any change in symptoms. We have also snaked the stack above the shower from the roof with no changes. The sink and toilet are both farther up the line so this makes no sense to me. Our next goal is to get an endoscopic camera to further investigate what could be causing this.

In the meantime, if anyone might know what could be causing this or has any advice that could help us diagnose and/or fix this issue please do reply! We are lost on what to do next until we can get the camera. If we find a solution I will post back here and let you all know!

Thanks for your time and any advice you may have!

Corey

Hey guys, we have fixed the issue by purchasing a snake that attaches to a power drill and snaking the stacks again, and plunging the shower drain afterwards. The blockage was inside the stack above our laundryroom.
