Hi all,

I have a problem with my toilet (more of a problem with the wife nagging me about the problem with the toilet) - after each flush, when the cistern has refilled, it expels an excess amount of water into the pan. It trickles in, sounding and lasting for about as long as a bloke having a quick jimmy.
I did all the obvious checks but found no evidence of another bloke in the house so i checked the toilet. That's when I was able to diagnose the problem.
Now, when it comes to plumbing, I know basic stuff; I'm more akin to a GP than a doctor - I know when something isn't right and consult a specialist.
I've adjusted the height of the ballcock up and down, quarter turns each time; all the way down and all the way up. I must have wasted a lake worth of water with test flushes!
After each flush, the cistern refills and, as it reaches it's usual level, the water keeps filling in. It's at this this point that it begins to expel the excess water into the bowl. When the water in the cistern stops, the excess water in the bowl stops.
I've ensured there's no goop or other detritus under the seal and I can identify no overflow pipe over which the water may be filling.
I've attached a picture of the inside of my cistern so you can see what I'm rocking under the bonnet.
This is getting on my nerves - more so with the added interpolated ear-aching so any advice is greatly appreciated in advance.
