On average, how long can it take to convert from tank to tankless water heater.
On average, how long would it typically take to swap out a tankless (defective) with a tankless of same mfg and model?

Swap out, 3+ hours.
Tankless from tank, typically requires a new gas supply, electrical, mounting details. Need more details, but one day covers it.
The absolute best and only tankless brand we touch is Navien NPE A series

Re the swap out, is there a special flush out and other procedures that warrant 4 hours other than the obvious cut off and disconnect of gas, elec, water in and out and vent?

To answer your question, just arriving and setting up takes 40 minutes, leaving and packing out 30 min. and vent can be challenging, plus the bypass kit has to be reset...and on....
