Hello,
I had a sump pump installed about five years ago and it has been working like a dream ever since. But the other day during a rain I had some water come in the basement and I checked and the top of the sump pump was completely dry so I know it didn’t overflow and I was wondering if maybe the sump pump drainage system in the wall could be leaking. The leak occurred about two or three feet away from the pump. It is an older house, around ’62, so maybe it came in the cracks in the foundation but that has never happened before and although it was raining hard we’ve had much worse waterfall with no leakage at all. I store a lot of stuff in my basement that is very susceptible to water damage, i.e. records and books, so this is very concerning to me. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Scott Spray

Put a hose in the sump. Turn it on. let the sump cycle a couple times to see if it's working or not
