Greetings. We are in need of a second full bath in our home. I have a small place in the basement that can accommodate a potential bathroom , probably 8'10" x 6'6". The basement/area does NOT have a rough-in for a bathroom (house built in 1970, raised ranch; the basement is above ground in the front and below ground in the back of the house. The sewer stack is across on the other side of the basement, about 20ft from where we could fit this additional bathroom, but at least it's on the same back wall region. We'd like to get a toilet, sink and shower (don't really need a tub). Also would like to put a washer/dryer combo unit in this space as well; there is some space where we can inset the washer/dryer into a nook. The new HVAC duct system took up alot of space towards the back foundation wall, we have about 2.5 feet of space behind the wall that can be torn down to capture some space for us to recess the washer/dryer unit and maybe cover with a sliding door or accordion doors . The layout of the planned space is rectangular. One wall will be against the foundation, the other long wall will be an interior wall. Trying to keep the plumbing on one side if at all possible, but does not appear possible. Initially planned to come in the bathroom from the "entry" left side. On that back wall was a planned sink .. then toilet .. then a walk-in shower (turned 90degs) against that right side 6.6 wall. ..

BUT THEN, I forgot that I needed to put the washer/dryer down in the basement; I thought I had 3ft to the left of the "entry" to the new bathroom, but nope I have ZERO. Again, I can recess it into the left side, as I come in, but where would I relocate the sink, but directly across from where it was once planned. This causes the need for more plumbing/excavation, which is obviously expensive on an already expensive "needed" bathroom.

I would appreciate some thoughts/Ideas on the most efficient layout and thoughts on the cutting the floor/foundation for the plumbing. Do I need a vent/exhaust/fan in the ceiling?

Think of the layout like this:

*** This space is behind wall ( = ) HVAC duct work back here, 2.5ft of space ***

======================= wall against duct work (towards back of house)

entry

======================= wall into living area (interior wall)

Here's a sketch... the sewer hookup is behind that sink...also the current washer drain situation dumps into that sink as well. Should the washer drain continue to dump into the sink, or have them modify the sewer stack? The sink dumps right behind that cardboard wall

Ideally , I 'd like to push the washer/dryer (one unit system) into that "duct room" within the new bathroom, and add the bathroom in that nook place. I was hoping to do a single wall for entire plumbing to save money, but don't know if that is possible . .. in that bathroom rendition, where the sink is, I now have to put the washer/dryer as in inset, and move the sink to the opposite wall
