I have a Tri-Level house, and about 2 weeks ago I flushed the toilet in the lowest level of my house and it would not go down. So I plunged and plunged to no avail.
About 30 minutes later my daughter was in our basement laundry room and she stepped in a puddle of water. I rushed downstairs and there was water coming up thru the basement floor drain! Luckily a plumber was next door and he immediately came over and said that our main sewer line was plugged. So we had him snake it out from the basement clean out, and when he finally busted thru the clog, upon bringing the snake back, he had a clump of tree roots on it.
Now yesterday I went downstairs to flush the toilet, and it fills up really high, then starts to drain slowly! None of my other drains or toilets are slow!
So I plunged again and ran a toilet auger down, but it still doesn't flush good. I've heard that if I run the bathroom sink, and the toilet starts to fill with water, then my main line is clogged again. But it doesn't do that!
Should I remove the toilet and run a snake thru it, or what should I do?
