Hello all.

I'm sure this is a really basic question, but my plumbing knowledge really is minimal and I have a question which I need a second opinion on.

The picture I have attached is underneath my kitchen sink. Are the valves attached to the incoming pipes suitable for installation of a dishwasher or not? Is the self-cutting valve necessary?

Thanks in advance.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

The picture is of the water pipes supplying our kitchen sink, and the hose is supplying a dishwasher via a self-cut valve. I was led to believe, and was looking for a second opinion, that the valves already installed on these pipes were sufficient to supply a dishwasher, making the self-cut valve unnecessary.

All of the existing water supply pipe and fittings should be cut out and replaced. The "self-cut valve" makes me cringe. Whoever did the original plumbing there should be flogged...

It's in the UK, obviously thrown up overnight.

So the diameter of the pipe would be the limitation, not the connection?
