Hi,
I moved into a condo some months ago with a large sewer vent pipe in the middle of the front yard. I had one plumber tell me it was safe to cap it, but I'd definitely like to get a second opinion before I cut it. According to my condo neighbors, it has been there since the building was built and it's at least 5-6 feet down from the top of it to the sewer line. I can't tell how deep it goes because it's on a bit of an angle to the pipe below it. This is only the third building that the original developer built, so I suspect that it was forgotten.
Is there any risk to cutting it? Can any plumber do this, or should I find a plumber specializing in sewers? Should it be sealed with a plug or some sort of vent?
thanks in advance for any advice.
Here is a picture of it:
