Hello everyone!

I have this horrid Septic smell coming
From my bathtub drain. I live in 3 storey
Apartment building and my apartment is on
The top floor. The smell would come and go
And I didn't think much of it until one night
I went in my bathroom and the smell was so
Powerful I couldn't go in there.

I notified my landlord and he sent over someone
Who he said was a plumber. I don't actually know
If this guy a legit plumber.

Basically he told me it could be the wind blowing the smell
In, and to fill my bathtub up to the over flow and
Drain it and the smell should go away. I mentioned how I've
Been doing some reading and that maybe there's a leak.
He said I could do all the reading I want but there's nothing he
Can do and it could just be stuff clogged in the drain. He couldn't even
Look for me. So I went out and bought some draino, I did the treatment
On Halloween and now I can smell it again in my bathroom.

I'm hoping I can get some actual knowledge about this
Before I go to my landlord about this again.
I can't live with the smell, it's gross and gives me headaches
If I'm in there to long. So any knowledge as what could be the problem
Would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

as you an see,the tub drain is protected by a water seal on the p trap
that is what a ptraps sole purpose in life is. to keep sewer gas out of your house
unles your trap is dry, it is not wind on the roof 1801510022.gif

is anyone living in the apartment below you ?

if not, theirtrap could be dry, and the funk is coming up thru the tub hole in the floor.
or, the wax ring on your toilet could be needing replacement
