My old AO Smith FPSH 50 260 has a slight leak at the bottom. Replacement has been scheduled.
I'll be out for a couple days and would like to avoid any major leakage while I am away.
Since it's a "power vent" system, I'm thinking to:
Lower the heat dial all the way to low.
Shut off water intake valve above the tank.
Shut off electricity to the unit from the breaker box.
Close gas valve.

Should I be doing anything else?

If we are going to be out just overnight one evening I shut the main water valve off and drain the system down and
then no suprises when we get home. What you did sounds good........
