Got a 3 level home.

When we run the shower the loud rushing sound of water in our staircase wall over takes the 2nd level. This is not "Hammering" or "Banging" but water rushing upward sounding like Niagara Falls.

The drain for the shower and toilet are also located in the same wall. They too make (not nearly as loud) noise of falling water.

Suggestions??

No visible leaks on anywhere? So when you run the shower, it sounds like water is actually running within the wall?

Have you lived in the house for a while and only now noticed the sound? Or has it always done this?

No water leaking. I've lived in the for 15 yrs. and it's always been there.

So insulate, don't replace water pipes and replace drain with "Quiet pipe".

Thanks

There is nothing more embarrassing then having guests in the living room and a kid flushes the upstairs throne and it sounds like a 727 hitting the house. PVC is great but at the least use solid core over foam core (builder grade aka cheapest way out).

Hubless cast iron is the way to for the more discerning... ;)

At my age it seems to happen at the most inopportune times...

I was trying to replace the PLUMBER AVATAR as I am not one in any sense. Don't know how it got there.

I did re-plumb my daughter's condo and used the QUIET HOUSE system of mixed cast and PVC. I now have to open a wall in this fairly new house to do the same.

I hate noisy plumbing...
