I'm planning on replacing the media in my water softener. I'm trying to figure out how much I need. The label on the tank says Clack model 1047. I'm assuming this is a 10x47. I don't know if it has a gravel or not, but I am planning on putting one in since it doesn't seem like there is a down side to doing it. I've seen various numbers around that seems to indicate it would need >1cu.ft. but <1.5cu.ft. Would it be better for me to open it and measure the current level or calculate it based on the tank specs?

As far as the resin. I was just planning on purchasing this or something similar.

Is there a difference between that and the stuff labeled high capacity like this?

Thanks!
