Remove bathtub faucet spout?

I think this is original 1965 fixtures. The faucet spout doesn't seal properly when you pull the valve up. Also my wife hates the 50+ years of mineral buildup and is worried our baby will cut his head on it during bathtime. I looked at some YouTube videos of course. This spout doesn't have any screws in it so it should just be the kind that you unscrew. I tried unscrewing it counter clockwise, but it didn't budge. I am worried that I could snap the pipe if I twist too hard. Any suggestions? Should I just twist as hard as I can?

Unscrew it. counterclockwise. use a pipe wrench. It will come off
