Hi - I had a contractor build up a brand new shower underneath a staircase. He applied a coating of red guard and did tile work. I wasn't happy with the work done on the interior and so I've stopped that contractor. I had another tile person come out and they said they were supposed to put a liner down. I didn't mention at the time about the red guard cause I had to check my pictures and figure out what the red stuff was later. Looking back I see the red guard application and reviewed youtube video from Red Guard where it says to apply a second coat on the bottom pan up the wall 2ft. I can see a second application on the screws and joints, but not sure if they applied a whole second coat on the bottom like a liner. My friend suggested I could run a leak test filling the bottom with water and waiting a few days to see if it goes down. I haven't grouted the tile yet, but a tiler said he'd charge $1000 to pull the tile and put a liner in. I really don't want to pay this, but want to be confident it was done right...
Suggestions appreciated!

Pictures of red guard attached and with tile installed.
