I've been considering the Laing Act-E1 and the Watts model 500899 to get quicker hot water to my kitchen sink approx 50 ft from my main water heater.

The Watts is readily available at under $200 and requires no AC at the point-of-use, but the Act-E1 seems a bit more durable while holding it - yet costs slightly more money.

I have no dedicated return lines in my home so both of these pumps might work for me. The Act-E1 mounts at the point-of-use and incorporates both the pump and the bypass valve all in one unit.

Which pump have you used or do you recommend? Is there actually any noticeable difference in quality between these two? Also, while reading the installation instructions for the Watts pump (at the main water heater) it tells me to shut off the water supply to the water heater and then to open the point-of-use faucet ... but then completely drain my water heater? Please explain. Thanks.

same he I don't know anything about the 2 you listed I use grundfros as well

The Grundfos pump looks identical to the Watts pump (except color). Same set-up. Watts is sold locally at Lowe's, Menard's, HomeDepot.

I just talked to Grundfo's technical support regarding their Comfort pump and learned that the Watt's pump sold locally (blue in color) is the same Grundfos pump.
