ptrap advice please

Hi all I'm trying to attach ptrap to new plumbing and I'm unsure of 2 ways I have set it up which is the better way? Here's 2 pics, thanks in advance

wow quick responses. Thank you! Wanted to make sure. I think I like that setup better too just wanted to make sure before I glue it in because there won't be much 1 1/2 pvc left to change it later If I goofed. Thanks for the help!
