I hired a contractor to build a shop with a restroom in it that has a toilet and sink only. When he ran the waste pipe to the house it was too low. So now I need to install a Pre-Plumbed Sewage Basin System in my crawlspace. My question is, does it have to go in the ground, or can it sit on top of the soil in the crawl space? I have a 5' tall crawl space.

Thank you!

answer actually depends on the height of the tank. if you have a 5' crawl space and a 4' tank. ....no

as long as it is accessible to be maintained, inspected,
it can be in the crawl space

check local codes, those are the ones that bite you in the ass
