Hello everyone first post here, appreciate any feedback. I am trying to diagnose a rheem 50 gallon NG water heater. Pressure switch has been replaced and prv. Also verified pressure switch works with vacuum by suck/blowing. The issue is the venter motor isn’t turning on at all. I understand the sequence and when plugged in it should fire first. I hard wired it to 120v and it runs fine. However when pulling the cover off by the inducer something in the circuit board shorted. I have to replace the board regardless now. Would a faulty board be the main culprit or is it somehow tstat related not firing the motor on? I haven’t seen one with an actual circuit board on it before so I’m unsure where to go from here. Do boards fail often? It was pulling multiple codes by the way. Any help would be awesome thanks 👍🏻

I had power vent water heaters (three) from 1992-2020 in my home. Original one replaced due to a faulty standing pilot after about 10 years. Replacement heater had a spark (no standing pilot) ignition. That lasted about 10 years, and the blower failed. Last one was still in and working when we sold the home. Never had a board fail…but consistently got about 10 years of life from each. First replacement in 2002 was under $500. Second replacement nearly $900 in 2012.
