I live in coastal SC and our home is built on a slab with the plumbing covered by or encapsulated in the slab itself. Our kitchen is about 40' from the water heater which is in the garage. The problem is that when we want hot water from the kitchen sink, it takes almost a full minute to get hot water at the tap. Id like ideas about installing a 110v point if use hot water heater under the sink, or installing a circulator pump at the water heater. My concern with the latter is that i will lose too much heat to the concrete slab and run up my electric bill. Thoughts?

You need to check GPM of the point of use compared to what you use at the kitchen faucet. I know they work ok for lavs for washing hands, not sure about washing dishes. I have heard people complain about tank less water flow because it can only do a certain temp rise at certain GPM.
