Greetings,
I've no experience at all with plumbing...so, this series of stupid questions might sound like I'm joking to you pros out there. But, here goes:
I have a leaky faucet in my tub, and after watching many youtube videos and such, I felt that I had the mental prowess to take this seemingly simple-fix into my own hands. I have to replace what I've learned to be a "diverter stem." After some tile-destruction, I was finally able to see that hex-shaped 'thing' I had to get at with a wrench that fit it. Well...got it out and decided, "sweet...now, I'll just mosey up to Home Depot and pick up a replacement!" Yeah, nope. I brought this piece with me to compare to new ones, but no dice. Their little book to help identify it didn't help either, as there were NO matching stem-assemblies...at all. I thought I was close when I was able to fit the "broach" into there little test-fitter display. It was a size "I," but the length I have did not have a size I, leading me to believe that Home Depot doesn't have what I need. I have no idea what brand faucet/diverter stem I have, it's Sunday, and I haven't the slightest clue on how to go about matching my part up with a replacement part now. Any ideas? Pictures are attached. The Home Depot guy did tell me that I'd have better luck knowing whether I have a Kohler, a Delta, a Price-Pfeifer (or some such), etc. There are no markings or brand stamps on any of the hardware of my faucet system.
Here's my stupidest question though: I see a delta sign on my knob that was connected to this. So, is it a Delta? I saw the same kind of knobs at Home Depot though that were for "Price-Pfeifer." Is it a Price-Pfeifer?" Or do all these different brands utilize the same delta sign as a means to label the knob designated to divert bath/shower?
Please help, and thank you kindly in advance for reading and trying to direct me to resolving things.
Regards,
Metaltyme
